The number of electric vehicle charging stations in Turkey exceeds 11,000
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that by the end of February, the number of electric vehicle charging stations across Turkey had reached 11,037. According to him, Istanbul has the largest share in this regard, with 2,784 stations.
In a written statement, Uraloğlu emphasized that with the increase in production and demand for electric vehicles, the charging infrastructure has also rapidly expanded throughout the country.
Rapid increase in the use of electric vehicles in Turkey
The Turkish Minister of Transport, pointing to the significant expansion of electric vehicles in the country, said: "The charging infrastructure has also been strengthened simultaneously with this growth, and the increase in production and sales of these vehicles indicates the beginning of a new era in the fields of energy and transportation."
Emphasizing the environmental importance of this transformation, he added: "Electric vehicles, by reducing carbon emissions and increasing energy efficiency, represent a serious step toward environmental sustainability and individual transportation."

Significant growth in registration and sales of electric vehicles
Uraloğlu announced that in February 2024, the number of registered electric vehicles in Turkey reached 93,973 units. This number increased by 121% to 208,006 units in February 2025.
Also, in February 2025, 10,324 electric vehicles were sold, while in the same month of the previous year this number was only 4,713 units. According to him, these statistics show that "the Turkish market is seriously embracing electric vehicles."
The share of electric vehicles in total sales has also increased from 5.7% to 13.6%.
Expansion of charging infrastructure throughout the country
Pointing to the increased need for charging stations, Uraloğlu stated that the number of charging sockets in February 2024 was 15,335, and this number rose to 28,159 in February 2025.
He emphasized the development of charging infrastructure throughout the country and added:
"By the end of February 2025, Turkey hosts 11,037 electric vehicle charging stations. 70% of these stations are located within cities, and 30% are on intercity roads. This expansion is not limited to metropolitan areas and also includes various parts of Anatolia."
Distribution of charging stations by provinces
The Minister of Transport also provided information about the distribution of charging stations by provinces. According to him, Istanbul ranks first with 2,784 stations. It is followed by Ankara with 1,213 stations, Antalya with 732, Bursa with 532, Izmir with 504, and Konya with 281 stations.
