Edip Akbayram was born on December 29, 1950, in Gaziantep. During his childhood, he suffered from polio, which brought physical challenges, but his love for music developed at an early age. He used to save his money to attend concerts of his favorite artists and later imitate their movements in front of the mirror.
During high school, he formed a music band and covered songs of renowned Turkish poets such as Pir Sultan and Karacaoğlan. He recorded his first music record, "Kendim Ettim Kendim Buldum," during this period.
🎤 Beginning of His Musical Career
In 1968, after graduating from high school, he moved to Istanbul. He passed the university entrance exam and started studying dentistry, but his deep passion for music led him to abandon that path and fully dedicate himself to the arts.
In 1971, Akbayram participated in the "Golden Microphone" contest and won first place with his song "Kükredi Çimenler," inspired by a poem by Âşık Veysel. In 1974, he founded the "Dostlar Orchestra" and became one of the leading figures in Anatolian pop music.

Despite this, he made a strong comeback in the 1990s with the album "Türküler Yanmaz," which gained great success.
