Cemre Baysel: “The Zeynep Character Is Very Similar to Me”
Cemre Baysel, who plays Zeynep in the popular TV series Güller ve Günahlar, has won the hearts of viewers with her performance. Speaking candidly, Baysel shared insights about the similarities between herself and her character, as well as the strong harmony within the cast.
The actress, one of the leading faces of the Kanal D series, emphasized that forming a personal connection with a character is a crucial factor for her when accepting a new project.
“I Ask Whether the Character Is Close to Me or Not”
Bringing to life the outspoken and compassionate Zeynep, Cemre Baysel explained her approach to choosing roles: “When a project comes my way, I think about what I can contribute to the character. I evaluate whether the character feels close to me or distant.”
She noted that shaping the character of Zeynep came very naturally to her, adding: “I found parts of myself in Zeynep, and that helped me play the character in a more natural and sincere way.”
A Shared Sense of Frankness
Referring to Zeynep’s outspoken nature, Baysel said this trait also resonates with her personally: “Zeynep is very direct, and so am I. She sometimes speaks without thinking, I’m not quite like that, but our frankness is similar.”
The Serhat–Zeynep Conflict Strengthens the Story
Expressing her happiness about the series’ success at the top of the ratings charts, Baysel stated: “After the first episode, we realized that we were presenting a strong and compelling story.”
She explained that the tension between Serhat and Zeynep was a deliberate choice: “There is actually an incompatibility between them, but the audience liked it. That conflict added strength and depth to the story.”
Working with Murat Is a Pleasure
Speaking warmly about her co-star Murat, Baysel said: “Working with Murat is very enjoyable. He is an actor who knows exactly when and where to deliver his performance. I truly admire him for that.”
She also highlighted the atmosphere on set, noting that their director is highly disciplined while also creating a positive and enjoyable working environment, which plays a key role in the team’s strong chemistry.
“I Would Be Friends with Zeynep in Real Life”
Concluding her remarks, Cemre Baysel said she would gladly choose Zeynep as a friend in real life: “I would be friends with Zeynep outside the screen. Everyone needs a strong friend like her—someone who knows what she wants and whose opinions are respected.”
